Main Networks Solutions Products Topics

Morris Maynard is a Software Engineer employed by MZA Associates in Albuquerque, NM. MZA is involved in developing software for the simulation and design of optical systems.

Morris is also the proprietor of Mayn Idea Software, Inc. This NM company has two business elements. Primary is the design and development of applications for science and industry. These programs perform tests and measurements using both custom and industry-standard instrumentation, create innovative displays of the results, and provide versatile storage and retrieval of data for archival purposes. Mr. Maynard is proficient in many software technologies on Intel-based platforms including Windows and Linux, and has also worked with various microcontrollers such as the 8510.

Mayn Idea also installs and manages networks for small businesses and families. These networks provide web acceleration, content filtering, and spam/popup/antivirus blocking in addition to company web, email and backup servers.

Mayn Idea software was started while Morris was employed by Princeton Applied Research Corporation, a unit of EG&G Inc. As a small and separate entity, Mayn Idea enabled Morris to serve customers of EG&G with custom software and instrumentation in a more flexible way, in addition to exploring software technology and methodology not used by PARC at the time. This proved beneficial for EG&G as well as for its customers, when Morris used his expertise in 32-bit Windows programming in the predominantly 16-bit Windows 3.1 environment to construct the first set of software tools for operating PARC’s CCD and diode-array cameras under Windows in 1993.

In 1995, PARC was sold to Princeton Instruments, which later became an element of Roper Scientific. Morris moved to work as a consultant for the new owners, and was instrumental in designing and developing software to operate PI’s CCD camera line under Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. During this time, Morris returned to school to work on credit towards completing a BS in Physics at Drexel University.

In 2000, after Roper Scientific completed the acquisition of Princeton Instruments, Morris began working full time for Mayn Idea on projects for PI customers and others. These projects included X-Ray spectroscopy and image analysis for process control, dynamic testing of high-speed optical sensors, and a software development kit for developers of I2C bus devices.

In 2004, Morris moved from Bordentown, NJ to Albuquerque, NM. Though the move entailed a lot of time, expense, and hard work, Morris and his wife both felt it would be worth it to work with some extremely talented people at MZA Associates, and to be able to contribute to projects on the cutting edge of applied science today. He has worked on projects involving adaptive optics, optimization of complex systems, and computational fluid dynamics, among others. Along the way he has learned to program in Matlab and re-acquainted himself with his first language, Fortran, while spending most of his time using C++ and C# in Visual Studio .Net.

Morris lives with his wife, Jerita, who left a career as the technical facilitator and whole school reform facilitator for a public school in Trenton to accompany him to New Mexico. She is currently marketing several works of fiction she wrote in New Jersey, and meanwhile continues to produce more. She also works as a trainer for a national education company. They share their house with a Siberian Husky, a mongrel cat, and any friends or family who favor them with a visit. Morris is currently pursuing a private pilot’s license and continues to study to remain current in software development technologies and trends.
